Our story

Kate spent her childhood riding horses and climbing trees on a windswept Island in the middle of Bass Strait.

After graduating from Monash University, she undertook voluntary work experience at a leading Interior Design & Decoration firm, to fast track her career.  Kate's passion quickly led to an offer of employment which saw her successfully juggle a Lead Design Assistant role with further studies, before officially graduating from RMIT in 2003.

Over the next 20 years, Kate developed a reputation for providing exceptional service to her clients.  With a love of natural materials, Kate enjoys working with earthy, muted tones and finding creative ways to blend vintage details with clean, contemporary lines.   Her gentle, intuitive approach gives clients the confidence to explore their own aesthetic, which naturally leads to the creation of homes that perfectly reflect the personality of those who inhabit them.

Specialising in residential projects, Kate Blakeman Design offers valuable insight at planning stage and expertise in the selection of paint colours and hard surface finishes.  With thoughtful layering of quality and custom made furniture, window treatments and soft furnishings, Kate is known for creating beautiful, authentic spaces.

An avid traveller, Kate firmly believes that your home should provide a sanctuary for everything close to your heart; family, friends, dreams, and momentos of a life well lived.
